Amazon Pioneer Women Part 1

I would like to pay tribute to my pioneer ancestors and my Great-Grandma Lloyd, people who took the job at hand and got it done. They are my inspiration and it was their blood in my veins today. I would also like to send my thanks heavenwards that this all happened while we were home and while I was off work.

Due to a malfunctioning water softener yesterday afternoon today my Mom and I have:

Moved:
-1 chest-of-drawers
-1 secretary
-1 desk
-1 couch
-2 chairs
-4 bookcases and accompanying books/kinck-nacks/tv
-1 metal filing cabinet
-and various other sundry items including two night stands, 8 boxes of welfare-square food storage, and various papers.

Removed:
-3 doors, a room of carpet, and disposed of 3/4 of a room of carpet-padding.

Various Other:
-called a carpet layer, have made 3 trips to Home Depot in the past two days, are now the proud new owners of a 5Horse-power ShopVac, rented a carpet fan, Mom&Dad spent several hours yesterday sucking water out of carpet.

Conclusions:
-floods are no good. Water-softeners at this cost are over-rated. At best carpet-padding is distasteful, sopping carpet-padding is gross, but mouldy carpet-padding would be infinitely worse. If your basement is going to flood quick and powerful ShopVac response would be optimal. We have wonderful neighbors who have ShopVacs that we probably won't need to borrow as we now have our own, which we hope is a talisman aganst such occurences in the future.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls...

This is sorta sad and deserves several paragraphs of narrative, but these few lines will suffice. So our Explorer qualified for the Cash for Clunkers program, and my parents decided to go for it. The one snag being the car we bought isn't in yet, but we had to turn the other in to get the credit. So after it all we are current minus a car, which is being challenging.

Ok the sad part is our poor Explorer. I think most of us (at least I) had grown very attached to that car, and didn't realize how much so until I found out that it was going to be "destroyed". Poor thing, it's on it's way out, but it has some good life left in it still. We moved my friend 5 or 6 times with that car, I think. A less shining moment we rode in it on top of a tow truck from St. George to Foothill Village in the night. I thought it was a wonderfull, grand, swinging adventure, but for some reason, my Mom does not share those same fond memories of that experience. Anyway, I feel sort of guilty. Anyway so please consider this a loving tribute to the Explorer.

Trumpeting

This is a happy angel trumpeting the weekend and three days of sleeping in and not going to work. Actually, she sort of looks like she's escaping, but that works too. Happy weekend to all whatever days it falls on for you.

True Love's Kiss Didn't Work

Sadly this sudden and passionate interlude was all for naught, Climber remained a stuffed animal, and baby cousin lost interest.

Current Obsession

Ok, so as my family can attest this BBC Drama is my current obsession. My friend had me watch it. We were squealing the night away. It was so fun. It's heavier than Pride and Prejudice, but similar. She thinks Mr. Thornton beats Mr. Darcy. I can't get myself to say those words, but he's definitely right up there. So if you've got 4hrs to spare it comes highly recommended.

Hello Again

So for whatever reason I haven't been in much of a picture taking mood. Last weekend a friend and I took the Greyhound down to Vegas to meet up with our other friend and her husband and baby who were in Vegas for a conference and then drove back to SLC with her. We had a lot of fun, the first day my camera was out of battery and the 2nd day I didn't take many pictures, but here's a couple.

We had a great night out and went to a sushi reasturant with all of us and some of friend's husband's coworkers. It was a great night and we had a great table looking out over the strip. Definitely worth it!!!
