So…I was washing my hands in this bathroom the other day, looked to the left and was mesmerized. “What in the WORLD???” Have you every seen anything like this? What is it supposed to do? Who does it call? What emergencies are they planning for? Who decided to substitute the red button with a blind cord??? It is not a switch that inspires confidence. I don’t really believe that is for emergencies at all. It seems the perfect start to some teen mystery where you pull the cord and it opens a door to another world. I’m open to other ideas, however. Feel free to post a comment with any ideas.

It's supposed to be for people who fall and are unable to get up, hence the cord, though it doesn't exactly reach the floor. It calls paramedics.
Lol! Another detail that I noticed was that engraved on the metal plate (you can't really see it in the picture) it says "Pull for help", but they've ameneded that to "Pull for emergency" on the white sticker. Probably a wise move.
C'mon tell me you pulled it!
When you pull it an arm on a spring flings out of the wall and punches you. Kinda like a jack-in-the-box.
